 CASSELL SPORTS was formed in the early 1980s by Peter Cassell who was a product designer with Cotton Oxford Ltd.

The company originally supplied Rugby clubs but expanded into many sports supplying clothing, equipment and teamwear essentials to many sporting organisations ranging from Football to Badmington.

 

 

 

In 1998 CASSELL SPORTS was purchased by Newmans of Rothwell who expanded the business even further offering a complete range of sports equipment and services for all sports enthusiasts. 

In 2007 CASSELL SPORTS 
took control of the former
ROTHWELL  ENGRAVING & TROPHIES 
forming a unique business which now covers all aspects of sports for all sporting organisations.

CASSELL SPORTS

A privately owned business who's Managing Director is Lennie Newman.

Lennie started his sports career as a fledgling footballer with Rothwell Town. After a couple of seasons in football his size and pace (or lack of it, some would say) convinced everyone that he should move to play Rugby at Kettering RUFC.

 

At the age of 20 after two succesful seasons  at Kettering he then moved to play for Northampton Saints for 12 years and also managed them in the Premiership for a Premiership record of just under 10 years. 

During this period he worked alongside Directors of Rugby, John Steele, Wayne Smith, Allan Sollomons, Peter Sloane and Jim Mallinder whilst managing some of the top players in the world including Matt Dawson, Tim Rodber, Paul Grayson, Tom Smith, Budge Pountney, All Black greats Andrew Blowers, Mark Robinson, Bruce Reihana, the legendry Carlos Spencer, SA captain Corne Krige,  plus the new England stars Chris Ashton, Ben Foden, Dylan Hartley and Courtney Lawes.

He is the Chairman of Kettering Rugby Football Club where both his sons, Joe and George are playing.

Lennie is also an accomplished after dinner speaker and a regular commentator and match analysist for the BBC.
